One Jelatek

SPATIAL ACCORDION. As its name suggests, the development is located along Jalan Jelatek, east of Kuala Lumpur, bordering Ampang in Selangor. The development takes the form of two distinct wings. Occupants of one wing enjoy the view of the bustling city whilst the other wing faces the serene Melawati Hills beyond. The pool and accompanying facilities pavilion are located on an elevated deck. This provides a panoramic city vista and frees up the ground for vehicular circulation and the drop-off lobby on what is a compact site at 0.7 acres.

Other than the external features, what distinguishes this development is the extreme flexibility designed into the units within. This flexibility is possible due, in part, to the innovative spatial arrangement of living, dining and sleeping spaces in a longitudinal manner. These spaces are placed on the outer face, providing maximum view and daylight whilst the service areas are pushed back to the inner side closer to the central core of the block. In some units, full-sized sliding glass walls are installed between the living/dining and the sleeping area. With the doors in their open position, these spaces merge and what results is one spacious and voluminous room.

There are 3 unit types with areas ranging from 1,300 square feet to 2,900 square feet, namely single-storey units, garden units and duplexes. The entrance vestibule of each unit is pushed away from the common corridor, anchored to it individually via designated passageways for enhanced privacy.
