Hentian Cambrian Pantai Kok
Langkawi, Kedah
Hentian Cambrian’s pavilion in Langkawi stands as an architectural landmark, its sweeping, wing-like roof embodying the island’s majestic eagles. Crafted from cast-in-place concrete, the cantilevered roof extends outward with striking fluidity, appearing almost weightless as it hovers above slender supporting columns. This structural and sculptural feat reinforces the themes of flight and openness, seamlessly blending with the coastal landscape of Pantai Kok.
The pavilion’s walls, composed of vent blocks, further enhance this sense of lightness. These permeable surfaces filter natural light and ocean breezes, casting ever-changing patterns of shadow that animate the space throughout the day. The exposed concrete, raw yet refined, interacts with sunlight and the elements, deepening its connection to the natural surroundings. More than a shelter, the pavilion transforms the sea into an ever-present backdrop, offering visitors a spatial experience that is both grounded and ethereal
