Aman Central

Alor Setar, Kedah

This new commercial re-development, will boost the surrounding area as a prime centre for business and tourism activities. The proposed 1.2 million sq.ft shopping mall is bound by Menara Alor Setar and Dataran Bunga Raya on the eastern side, Putra Medical Centre to the south and a future 5-star hotel to the north across Jalan Tambang Badak with the existing shop lots and terrace housing area to the west.

Aman Central is designed to emphasize the visual axis as well as the physical relationship with Menara Alor Setar, the main city landmark. The proposed Aman Walk, a 40’ wide pedestrianized paved landscaped area along Lebuhraya Darulaman and Jalan Tambang Badak, will be the connecting element between the mall and the neighbouring developments.

The shopping mall’s double-storey glass frontage at ground and first floor create a more transparent and welcoming environment. On street level, the stretch of al-fresco dining outlets fronting the main drop off area animates the ambience, further enhancing the proposed Aman Walk as an important pedestrian activity zone and connector

The main body of the mall will be clad in Aluminum cladding sandwiched between 2 feature advertising box panels while the other façade in plaster and paint. Groove lines are introduced to break the uniformity of this outer skin. Horizontal LED light pockets are positioned in a random-like manner to introduce a more playful element to the façade. A huge LED screen and the mall logo shall be positioned at the corner, facing the intersection of Lebuhraya Darulaman and Jalan Tambang Badak.

A panoramic glass facade is placed to capture the streetscape of Aman Walk, Dataran Bunga Raya and Menara Alor Setar. Carefully detailed perforated Aluminium screens and Aluminum roofing will be used to crown the building as well as to screen off the multi-level parking above. Glass canopies will mark the entrances and drop-off areas. This combination of modern architectural expression will be a new unique and memorable feature for the city.
