The Orient Star Hotel is a staggered lowrise building arranged in a u-shape which directs views out to the river mouth; part of a full masterplan of the waterfront originally undertaken for the revitalization of Lumut. The plan centres on a courtyard which gives privacy to the swimming pool, sundeck and outdoor dining area. The building is one adaptation of tropical colonial architecture with touches of the vernacular Perak roof.
