PAN PACIFIC PANGKOR RESORT EXTENSION
1996 – Pulau Pangkor
Hospitality
The site was a long stretch of beach, cowgrass and casuarinas next to the fine sand of a gently curving bay; the existing resort on one end and the rolling hills of a tropical monsoon island on the other.
With the client as concerned with the practical issues of building maintenance and the weathering effects of the equatorial monsoon climate as much as with the character of rusticity, the concept had the resort addition arranged to ring a field of grass with the tall casuarinas by the sand, sited as a third arm relative to the existing beach and garden wings.
This project examines one possibility of the relationship between structure and enclosure within the limits of a repeated module.
