1996 – Langkawi
The Sheraton Perdana Hotel in Langkawi was a renovation and refurbishment project breathing new life into a tired 3-star hotel. Its single existing redeeming feature was its excellent location on the undulating grounds at the tip of a cape looking over blue seas and tropical islands. The brief requested minimal reworking of the existing hotel and maintaining the existing roof shape and form. This required focusing instead on broad awning roofs, wide balconies and the development of space from room to balcony and garden.
