Express Rail Link Station

Kuala Lumpur

The Express Rail Link Stations are nodes constructed along the rail path between the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the city centre. The rail system itself consists of a transport corridor meandering through agricultural land and cut through plantations as it connects the city to its transport hub. The rail link uses the existing KTMB rail system between Brickfields and Serdang, and then follows a new alignment between Serdang to the airport, allowing for a 160km/h operation of a high frequency train service. The organic platform roof is the most dominant architectural feature. It is based on an abstraction of Islamic Arches and palm trees. The design of the structural steel elements was based on a synthesis of imagery from both Islamic culture and the culture of movement: streamlining set to built form.
