TNB Northern Region Office

Kuala Lumpur

Tenaga Nasional Berhad, our nation’s power supplier, expressed a simple wish for the accommodations of a district office on an edge between a shoplot town and a reedfield: four and a half level acres of a polygon sitting on a line between scattered development, a neighbourhood, and an open expanse of the uncut grasses of Kepong.

The concept of a louvered block was conceived; held poised above its wedge base by two flanking arms: a building workmanlike in quality with refinement and finer detail stretched like a delicate skin over its rough carcass. Three primary components in all; the wedge podium of public domain, the parking layered deck and the louvered beacon block mediating the lower masses and addressing the main arterial street edge – a pitch for an architecture of the big, strong and friendly. TNB’s district office in Kepong is a project in which a greater sense of occasion and purpose was attempted in fulfilling client needs.
